This project builds on our established microfluidic blood-brain barrier (BBB) chip, which mimics the human BBB and can be combined with our custom-built focused ultrasound (FUS) system. The aim is to understand which drugs and immunotherapies cross the BBB, why, and how FUS can enhance delivery to the brain, using a glioblastoma model.
🧠 Project Title
Overcoming the Blood-Brain Barrier: Focused Ultrasound–Enhanced Delivery of Drugs and Immunotherapies in a Glioblastoma-on-Chip Model
🧪 Methods
Microfluidic BBB/glioblastoma model, focused ultrasound, fluorescence microscopy, single-cell sequencing and FACS
📍 Location
University Medical Center Mannheim (UMM) & German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ)
📅 Requirements
Full-time project, 2 semesters off from coursework (suitable for a doctoral thesis)
